Manipur boys finish runners up at 17th Mini National Handball C'ships

IMPHAL, Apr 24 : State lad suffered final loss to finish runners up in the 17th Mini National Handball Championships hosted by Maharashtra under the auspices of Handball Federation of India in Mumbai.
In the final match, Manipur suffered a 15-20 loss to Madhya Pradesh to settle for the runners up title.
The goals for the State team came from Ksh Arjun (5), Ksh Yaithoiba (4), Kh Jupiter (3), N Nelson (2) and Ksh Gelix (1).
Earlier in the day, Manipur had defeated Gujarat 26-24 in a keenly contested semi-final clash to book the final ticket following a 25-19 victory over Haryana in the quarter-final.
Ksh Yaithoiba starred in the semi-final match scoring highest 9 goals followed by N Nelson (8) and Kh Jupiter (6) and Ksh Arjun (3).
Earlier in the quarter-final match, Yaithoiba amassed 9 goals as Jupiter netted 8 goals. Ksh Arjun (4), L Nelson (3) and Kh Gelix (1) were also on the target for Manipur in the match.
Mention may be made that Manipur boys entered the knock-out stage with a 10-0 thrashing of Tamil Nadu and 25-13 win over Jharkhand in the league stage.
