YPHU, NESU register easy wins in 16th Manipur State League

IMPHAL, Apr 25 : YPHU, Lalambung ended their wait for a win after two draws in 16th Manipur State League Group B competition with a 2-0 thumping of Rahee UC, Kamjong at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong this afternoon.
Aimso Chithung broke the deadlock early for YPHU in the 6th minute before Okram Rohit found the second and the decisive goal in the 76th minute.
Meanwhile in the other Group B match staged later in the day, North Eastern Sporting Union (NESU), Khurai rode on a double from Yumnam Monis to beat Football Club Lamjao 3-1 and extended their winning run to three games and unbeaten run to four games.
Ngathem Imarson earned NESU the much deserved lead in the 27th minute before Yumnam Monis doubled the advantage in the 41st minute.
To much delight for NESU, Monis scored two minutes into the added time before the break to make it 3-0.
After the break, FC Lamjao, who had won twice and drew once in the last three games, struggled to make their way into the game and successfully pulled back a goal through substitute Ningthoujam Defender in the 50th minute. The team however could not further reduce the margin as NESU defenders tactfully kept all threats in the remaining portion of the game at bay.
Next matches are scheduled on April 27.
