Poll violence on Apr 19 : Remand for three

IMPHAL, Apr 26 : The Court of the Special Judge NIA Imphal East remanded the three persons who were arrested  on the charge of threatening voters by opening fire at Moirangkampu Sajeb Upper Primary School in the first phase of election on April 19 to judicial custody till May 10. One elderly person sustained bullet injuries in the incident.
The three persons Leichombam Jamshan Singh (34) s/o (L) Arun Singh of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai, Khumukcham Angamba (32) s/o (L) Kh Rajen Singh of Sagolband Tera Khamnam Leirak and Nongthombam Ratan (47) s/o Late N Shamungou of Phaknung Awang Leikai were produced before the Court by a team of Porompat police with a prayer to send them to judicial custody.
The defence counsels filed different bail applications after hearing the submission of Special PP and perusal of material on record. The Court remanded all three of them to judicial custody till May 10. The bail applications will be treated as regular and heard on April 30.
The allegation levelled against the arrested persons is that they the entered Polling Station number 3/11 of Moirangkampu Sajeb Upper Primary School in Khurai Assembly Constituency on April 19 and fired some rounds towards the public in which one civilian Khoisnam Sanayaima (70) was injured.
