Cong demands repoll at 19 polling stations

IMPHAL, Apr 26 : The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee has written to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur seeking repoll at 17 Polling Stations in 44-Ukhrul AC and two polling stations in Phungyar AC .
In the letter, MPCC said that three EVMs were destroyed at three polling stations viz 44/36-Ukhrul (A), Ukhrul Model High School (N/W); 44/41-Ukhrul (D-1), Greenland Primary School and 44/50-Ukhrul (F) KK Leishiphanit Junior High School by miscreants during the voting hours.
The Congress party further said that another EVM was destroyed at 43/19 Shingkap Government High School in Phungyar AC while unfair means were used during the polling at 43/46 Nambashi Khullen Government High School in the same Constituency.
The polling officials and security personnel did nothing when the unknown miscreants used unfair means during the polling, the MPCC charged.
Notably, the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) of Ukhrul has also apprised the Returning Officer of the district that the result of the poll at 44/36-Ukhrul (A) and 44/41 Ukhrul (D-1) could not be ascertained as the EVMs and VVPAT in the two polling stations have been 'intentionally' destroyed by miscreants.
As per MPCC, cases of booth capturing, poll rigging and other malpractices were widespread in Ukhrul apart from not allowing the polling agent of the party's candidate Alfred K Arthur to sit in some polling stations by unknown armed miscreants.
Considering all the factors, the MPCC demanded repoll at 43/19 Shingkap Government High School (Phungyar AC); 43/46 Nambashi Khullen Government High School (Phungyar AC); 44/36-Ukhrul (A), Ukhrul Model High School (N/W); 44/41-Ukhrul (D-1), Greenland Primary School ; 44/50-Ukhrul (F) KK Leishi- phanit Junior High School; 44/1-Leisan Government High School; 44/2 Sanakeithel-A, Sanakeithel Government High School (N/W); 44/3 Sanakeithel-B, Sanakeithel Government High School (S/W); 44/15-Tushen (A), Tushen Government High School (N/W); 44/16 Tushen-B, Tushen Government High School (S/W); 44/17-Tushen Chahong Primary School; 44/32-Hundung Dungrei (B), Hundung Dungrei Aided JB School (S/W); 44/33- Hamlei-khong Hundung, Hamlei- khong Community Hall; 44/34 Hundung Kaziphung (C-1), Hundung Kaziphung Government High School (N/W); 44/35-Hundung (C-2), Hundung Kaziphung Government High School (S/W); 44/45 Ukhrul (E-2), Phungreitang East Community Hall, 44/46 Ukhrul (E-4) Community Hall Phungreitang West; 44/48 Ukhrul E (Part VI), VPH Primary School (West Wing) and 44/49 Ukhrul E (Part V), VPH Primary School West Wing.
