IMPHAL, Apr 27: The violent conflict in Manipur will complete one year on May 3, 2024, and this day will be marked as "365 days of Chin-Kuki Narco Terrorist Aggression in Manipur", said Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) today.
COCOMI said marking one complete year of the "narco-terrorists' aggression", a public convention will be held at the Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen at 11 am on May 3, 2024.
Speaking to media persons at its office at Lamphel- pat, COCOMI coordinator Thokchom Somorendro said the public convention will be attended by many intellectuals and eminent personalities, and it will discuss the present situation and decide future course of action.
He said, Manipur is in a deep turmoil and people are suffering, but there seems to be division among the people with many taking sides and levelling allegations against one another.
To take a collective resolution, all including the people, politicians, and organisations must work sincerely, he said.
Somorendro said efforts must be made to implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) with 1951 as the base year to identify and deport illegal immigrants.
Further, the implementation of the Inner Line Permit System must be monitored, he added.
To bring about lasting peace, people of all communities in Manipur should come together to resolve the crisis, he said.
Somorendro further said "The people of the State need to know and understand how mainland politi- cians see and treat us.
It would be wrong for the Indian Govt to practice appeasement policy and make "us scapegoat", he added.
