According to IDA, Manipur State Branch, the incident happened around 1 pm when she was closing her clinic for safety and was manhandled during a scuffle between protesters and the police leading to an injury in the ulnar area (forearm) of her right hand.
IDA Manipur has urged the District Magistrate, Imphal East and Superintendent of Police, Imphal East to provide necessary protection and security protocol for healthcare workers, especially in sensitive zones, issue clear directives to security forces to safeguard civilians, particularly members of the medical fraternity, during public disturbances and take immediate steps to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
