IMPHAL, Nov 21 : Various organizations including Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Zingtun Tangkhul Katamnao Long (ZTNL), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Katho Katamnao Long (KKL), Phalee Youth Organisation (PYO) and Tangkhul Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) have reacted to the controversy involving IGP Themthing Ngashangva and Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba over the alleged Royal Palace intrusion incident.
TNL, in a press release signed by its president Sword Vashum, demanded a high power Enquiry Committee/Commission headed by a retired Judge of the Supreme Court/High Court from outside Manipur be set up immediately to unearth the issue in its entire perspective.
The Commission may be given one month time for submission of its report, the TNL said.
TNL also said that the minimum that is expected of MP Leishemba Sanajaoba is to find out the veracity of the issue at stake from the IGP who was present right at the spot.
ZTKL condemned the alleged assault and derogatory remarks made against IGP Themthing Ngashangva while he was performing his duties at the Palace Compound.
Expressing concern over the actions of those individuals who allegedly violated prohibitory orders, resorted to violence and displayed blatant disrespect toward a senior officer, ZTKL maintained such behaviour is unacceptable.
The ZTKL urged the authorities to ensure fair, firm and impartial action against persons involved in 'obstructing and assaulting an on-duty officer.'
The organisation called upon all citizens to uphold peace and fulfil their responsibilities in maintaining public order.
TKS, on the other hand, objected to the allegations raised bythe Rajya Sabha through his PA/PS, claiming that the allegations are misleading.
TKS urged the competent authority to take exemplary legal action against the Rajya Sabha MP and his PA/PS for allegedly circulating misleading allegations.
"Preserving peace and mutual trust among communities must remain a shared priority," it said.
PYO also urged all citizens and organisations to uphold peace, respect lawful authority and fulfil their fundamental duties in maintaining public order.
