Jagu’s 79-ball 98 in vain as SU beat RNEF by 44 runs

IMPHAL, Nov 23 : Jagu’s 79-ball 98 for RNEF, Mayang Imphal went in vain as SU, Sagolband posted a 44 run victory in the opening match (Group D) of the 22nd Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament.
Asked to bat first, SU raised a commanding total of 250/6 in the allotted 30 overs courtesy of half centuries from Prameshor (47-ball 69) and Lirikhomba (82-ball 81 retd) before restricting RNEF to 206/4 despite Jagu’s big half century knock and Jasobanta’s fighting 49 off 72 balls.
Earlier in the first innings, Jagu (2/45 in 6 overs), Dhaneshwor (2/27 in 5 overs) shared four wickets as Max (1/40) and Premkumar (1/34) picked a wicket apiece.
For SU, Robindro (2/23 in 6 overs), Pyarlal (1/34 in 5 overs) and Prameshor (1/37 in 6 overs) were among the wickets.
As many as 21 teams clustered into four groups are participating in the tournament organised by the Manipur Veteran Cricket Association at Langthabal Public Ground.
