Firing with licensed gun kills boy

IMPHAL, Nov 26 : A 19-year old boy succumbed to a bullet injury at Raj Medicity at around 10.30 pm on November 25, 2025 after he sustained bullet injury at Kontha Ahallup Awang Leikai at around 6 pm yesterday.
Two juveniles have been sent to observation home while the owner of the licensed gun has been taken into custody in connection with the case.
The deceased has been identified as Ashem Tondonba Meitei (19) s/o A Gonindro Meitei of Kontha Ahallup Mamang Leikai while the licensed gun owner has been identified as Nandeibam Hemanta Singh (52) s/o N Mangi Singh of Khabam Heibong Makhong.
According to sources, Tondonba and the two juveniles went to the residence of Nandeibam Hemanta at around 6 pm yesterday.
They took out the licensed gun but the gun went off suddenly and a bullet hit Tondonba.
Soon after, Tondonba was evacuated to Raj Medicity for treatment but the doctor on duty declared him dead at around 10.30 pm.
The two juveniles who were with the victim at the time of incident were detained by police from Raj Medicity, North AOC and they were handed over to the Juvenile Justice Board for necessary legal procedure.
On the other hand, licensed gun holder Nandeibam Hemanta Singh was arrested from his residence today morning in connection with the case and taken into custody for further investigation and necessary legal procedure
The dead body of the victim is being kept at JNIMS morgue for post mortem. Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Heingang police station under the Arms Act for further investigation and necessary legal procedure.
