‘Rights come with responsibility’

IMPHAL, Nov 26 : Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur  Justice M Sundar has described the Constitution of India as a “living monument” which every citizen has a duty to adhere to and safeguard.
The High Court of Manipur observed the 76th Constitution Day in association with the Bar Council of Manipur, High Court  Bar Association of Manipur, All Manipur Bar Association and Manipur Judicial Academy at the auditorium of the High Court today. Speaking at the function, the Chief Justice emphasised that the Constitution is not merely a legal document but an enduring symbol of India’s democratic values, unity, and justice.
Highlighting the role of Dr BR Ambedkar in shaping the Nation’s destiny through the Constitution, he stated that the Indian Constitution was meticulously drafted to ensure every person in a Nation as diverse as India enjoy equality, justice and liberty.
While the Constitution guarantees Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, and Protection of Life and Personal Liberty, among other rights, it simultaneously imposes fundamental duties which every Indian must follow, he said and added that rights come with responsibilities.
