KCDO, IBSA victorious as 10th MNCA Plate Tournament kicks off

IMPHAL, Nov 27 : KCDO, Kongpal and IBSA, Yumnam Leikai emerged victorious as the 10th MNCA Plate Tournament got underway at Moijing Public Ground and Lairenjam Public Ground under the aegis of the Manipur Cricket Association.
As many as 17 teams clubbed into two groups are taking part in the tournament.
In the Group A opening match, KCDO defeated YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai by 5 wickets.
YUCC, who opted to bat first, were bundled out for 168 runs in 33.1 overs as Surjit led the KCDO bowling attack and enjoyed a four wicket haul before KCDO cruised to winning 174/5 in 22.2 overs.
Ningthoujam Thoungamba 33, Sandham Amar 33, Sougrakpam Santosh 30 and Laishram Bidyashwor 22 led the scoring for YUCC today in the first innings that also saw Mutum Jodiba, Ksh Devendro, and Md Ajizur Rahman sharing a wicket apiece for KCDO.
For KCDO, Gold 34, Mutum Jodiba 21, and Bikram Phandom 20 gave a steady start before Moirangthem Geetchandra 27 and Konsam Netajit 21 steered the team to the victory.
Sougrakpam Santosh (2/27), Sandham Amar (1/21) and M Kadamjit (1/23) were among the wickets for YUCC.
Meanwhile in the Group B opener, IBSA raised a total of 153 runs for all wickets down in 33.2 overs before bundling out PSC, Khuyathong for 70 runs to sealan 83-run victory.
Keithellakpam Nelson 44 off 63, Nandakumar 33 off 26 and Khundrakpam James 33 off 36 led the scoring for IBSA after they won the toss and elected to bat first.
Chunkham Kenny (4/19), Lamabam Martin (3/23), and Huirongbam Biteshwor (2/31) shone with the ball for PSC but they faltered badly in the chase as Pravesh (3/13), Md Shah Jahan (3/18), and Yengkhom Bhomendro (3/12) overhauled their performances.
