IMPHAL, Nov 27: Protests against the Sangai Festival persist, with women from Singjamei staging a meira rally (torch rally) today.
Starting from Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, the rally traversed various areas, voicing opposition to the President's Rule administration's handling of the Manipur crisis and the festival amid widespread boycott by internally displaced people (IDPs) and civil society organisations.
The IDPs demand resettlement and safe highway passage before such events are held.
