However, the India-Bangladesh Extradition Treaty explicitly mentions a political offense exception, which gives India legal grounds to refuse to send Hasina to Bangladesh. Furthermore, if India considers her a victim of persecution or a biased trial, extradition would be contrary to India's human rights and democratic principles.
