Manipur ready to roll out red carpet for President

IMPHAL, Dec 10 : President Droupadi Murmu will arrive in Manipur, as anticipated, tomorrow on a two-day visit (December 11 and 12).
This will mark her maiden visit to the State after assuming office and her itinerary includes attending key events in Imphal and Senapati.
During her stay, the President will attend a polo exhibition match and a Nupi Lan commemoration programme in Imphal and interact with leaders of the Maram tribe in Senapati, said a well placed source.
The polo match, organised by the Youth Affairs and Sports Department, is scheduled to begin around 2.30 pm tomorrow at Mapan Kangjeibung.
After watching the match, the President will address a civic reception at the City Convention Centre.
She will then spend the night at Raj Bhavan.
On the second day of her visit, December 12, she will pay tribute at the Nupi Lan Memorial Complex in observance of Nupi Lan Day.
From Imphal, the President will head to Senapati District Headquarters in the afternoon where she will interact with leaders of the Maram tribe.
The Maram tribe is recognized as a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
It is reported that the President may also interact with the Internally Displaced People  (IDPs) during her visit.
Meanwhile, security measures have been heightened in Imphal, particularly along the route from Imphal Airport to Raj Bhavan, Pologround, and the City Convention Centre areas, in preparation
for the President's visit.
The Government has also erected welcome banners and hoardings at key locations along the President's route, in addition to undertaking beautification works.
Notably, CorCom and MNRF have boycotted the President's visit by announcing a total shutdown.
