IMPHAL, Dec 10 : Congress MLA K Ranjit has written to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, highlighting the prolonged stagnation in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) projects sanctioned for Manipur.
In the letter, Ranjit expressed concerns about the ongoing standstill in road development works, which he said has significantly impacted mobility, economic activity, and the delivery of essential services across several districts.
The MLA noted that while several PMGSY-3 projects were formally approved over the past two years, progress on these projects has been minimal.
He pointed out that numerous tenders have either been withdrawn or left pending due to disputes and objections raised by certain contractors, leading to repeated cancellations.
Ranjit emphasised that these disruptions have left large sections of rural roads neglected.
He further highlighted the cascading effects of the delay, including difficulties faced by villagers in accessing healthcare and education, as well as the increasing challenges for farmers in transporting their produce.
With the dry season now setting in, this period represents the most suitable window for undertaking road works, the Congress MLA said and urged the Governor to ensure the pending PMGSY tender process is completed without further delay.
