Dept of Health and Family Welfare deploys 74 MOs to DHs

IMPHAL, Dec 10: In a significant step toward strengthening and expanding essential health service delivery across public health facilities, the Department of Health and Family Welfare has deployed 74 medical officers, including specialists, to various District Hospitals (DHS), Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Sub-District Hospitals (SDHs) across Manipur.
This comprehensive reshuffle and deployment was carried out under the orders of the Governor of Manipur, said a press release issued by the Health Department.
The latest transfer and posting orders place a significant number of medical officers and specialists across strategic locations, ensuring strengthened capacities in key disciplines such as general medicine, surgery, anaesthesiology, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, pathology, radiology, community medicine, and trauma care.
Specialist reinforcements were also made across key clinical departments.
A Senior Specialist was posted to DH Bishnupur, while DH Chandel received specialists in ENT and Ophthalmology.
Additional deployments included an Anaesthesiology Specialist to CHC Wangoi, a Pathology Specialist to CHC Moirang, and an ENT Specialist to the CMO office in Imphal East.
DH Thoubal gained a Biochemistry Specialist, and the CMO establishment in Bishnupur was further strengthened with an ENT Specialist.
Bishnupur also received additional personnel across its District Hospital and PHCs, while Imphal East and Imphal West were reinforced across CHCs, PHCs and key administrative units, including the CMO and CACC.
Jiribam gained support at its CHC, Kakching was bolstered through postings to its PHC, CHCs and CMO office, and Thoubal recorded notable reinforcement across the District Hospital, CHCs and other district units.
In the hill districts, Chandel and Churachandpur received strengthened staffing across the District Hospitals and peripheral facilities. Kamjong and Noney were supported at their CHCs and PHCs, respectively, while Kangpokpi received personnel across both PHCs and its CHC.
Senapati gained staff across the District Hospital, CHC and CMO office, with Tamenglong reinforced at its District Hospital. Tengnoupal received postings across its PHC and SDH, and Ukhrul was strengthened across the District Hospital, CHC and PHC.
According to the statement, the restructuring prioritises underserved and high-requirement areas including Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Chandel, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, Moreh, Kamjong, Noney, Jiribam, and other peripheral regions, thereby promoting equitable access to specialist care. The deployment of newly recruited doctors will also enhance frontline capability across the State.
