Temp dips below 10 degree Celsius

IMPHAL, Dec 13 : Temperature across the State is gradually dipping , with all districts, except Tengnoupal, registering temperatures below 10 degree Celsius in the past two days, according to data from the Environment and Climate Change Department.
According to the report, the mercury dropped to 5.34 degree Celsius in Imphal West on December 11, marking the first time temperature dropping to such a low level in the month of December.
The report further stated that the coldest December days in previous years were 6.24 degree Celsius in 2021, 5.62 degree Celsius in 2022, 6.22 degree Celsius in 2023, and 6.09 degree Celsius in 2024.
Meanwhile, on the same day (December 11), temperatures recorded as low as 6.88 degree Celsius in Bishnupur, 6 degree Celsius in Kangpokpi, 8.24 degree Celsius in Churachandpur and Imphal East, 9.29 degree Celsius in Kakching, 7.2 degree Celsius in Noney, 7.87 degree Celsius in Senapati, 6.46 degree Celsius in Tamenglong, 6.81 degree Celsius in Ukhrul, and 11.31 degree Celsius in Tamenglong.
The report continued that Imphal West recorded the lowest temperature among all districts in the past five days (6.7 degree Celsius on December 9, 6.89 degree Celsius on December 10, 5.34 degree Celsius on December 11, 5.83 degree Celsius on December 12 and 6.41 degree Celsius on December 13 ).
It is reported that extreme cold weather began as early as the latter part of November this year.
The report further stated that some Northeastern States, including Manipur, are expected to experience dense fog till December 17, according to the India Meteorological Department.
