Stage set for 2nd DGAR Men’s Polo C’ship 2025 quarterfinals

IMPHAL, Dec 14 : The quarterfinal line up for the 2nd DGAR Men’s Polo Championship 2025 organised by the Assam Rifles in association with the All Manipur Polo Association was completed today with 6 more teams securing pre-quarterfinal victories.
Luwangpokpa PC edged out Arvind Polo Club by 5-4 goals in the first match of the day staged this morning to qualify for the quarterfinals.
Luwangpokpa PC and Arvind Polo Club were locked at 4-4 till the end of the four chukkers before Th Ranjan scored his fourth and the golden goal in the additional chukker to seal the victory for Luwangpokpa PC.
Ibomcha scored twice and K Bonyson and L Rohit scored a goal apiece for Arvind PC in this game to keep the competition open as N Bankim scored the other goal for the winners.
Later in the second match (pre-quarterfinal), X-Polo Club rode on trebles from Th Santosh, Th Jacob and L Atangba to crush Laaman PC by 10-3 goals.
L Kokeshor also added one for X-Polo Club as Thembung scored twice and K Leishemba scored one for Laaman PC.
X-Polo Club will play Luwangpokpa PC in third quarterfinal match of the tournament.
In the third match of the morning session, Chingkheihunba Polo Club pulverised MPSC-C by 15-2 goals as Th Kaoba and T Leishemba scored four goals apiece, M Bhupendrajit, A Basanta and Th Manisana, and O Rozer scored one to set up the big win.
Such was the domination of Chingkheihunba PC that they led the first chukker 5-0 before cruising to 10-0 lead after two chukkers. Chingkheihunba PC then went on to take a 13-0 lead after three chukkers and pumped in two more goals in the final chukker that also saw N Devanath and Arunkumar scoring a goal apiece for MPSC-C.
With the win, Chingkheihunba PC set up a quarterfinal date with Thangmeiband Youth PC.
In another pre-quarterfinal clash of the day, MPSC-B overcame Tentha Polo Club by 5-4 goals courtesy T Roshan’s heroics.
T Roshan scored four goals across the first three chukkers before Abung Khuman hammered home the final goal in the third chukker.
Tentha PC, who were trailing by 3-5 goals till the third chukker courtesy of a double from S Sadananda and one from P Bikash, managed to reduce the margin with P Bikash scoring his second in the 4th chukker. They however failed to close out the gap and eventually MPSC-B ran away 5-4 winners.
Later in the day, Black Watch PC won 15-2 against Paradise PC to set up a quarterfinal date with MPSC-A who sealed a 8-4 win over Loyalakpa PC in the last pre-quarterfinal match of the tournament.
