IMPHAL, Dec 15: BJP MLAs belonging to both Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities have started communicating with each other on implementing BJP Central leaders’ advice to facilitate free movement of both the communities in each other’s areas, according to some BJP MLAs.
Notably, BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh and North East coordinator Sambit Patra chaired a meeting of BJP MLAs of Manipur at New Delhi on December 14, 2025.
Some BJP MLAs who are currently at Delhi told The Sangai Express that BJP Central leaders to facilitate free movement of both Kuki and Meitei communities in each other’s areas, enable MLAs of all communities to sit together in the Manipur Legislative Assembly and thus create a sense of unity.
The MLAs said that they have started communicating with each other on translating the Central leaders’ advice into action.
In addition to restoration of peace, there is a strong possibility of forming a popular Government in place of the President’s Rule by mid-January, they said.
The Central leaders’ advice to restore peace and bring unity was a positive signal towards establishment of a popular Government in the State, the MLAs said.
The BJP Central leaders advised the legislators to face all the challenges on the path to restoring peace in Manipur collectively, they said.
President’s Rule was imposed in the State from February 13, 2025 and it will complete one full year on February 12, 2026.
The PR is being extended every six months. If a popular Government is not formed before the expiry of the current six-month term, the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly may be dissolved.
But MLAs want dissolution of the State Assembly. As such, all the BJP MLAs including those belonging to Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities have been communicating with each other, they said.
On the other hand, the BJP MLAs who attended the meeting held at Delhi on Sunday have started arriving at Imphal.
MLA Thokchom Radheshyam arrived at Imphal Airport this morning.
Some other MLAs including Dr Sapam Ranjan, Heikham Dingo, Thangjam Arunkumar and Dr Yumnam Radheshyam are expected to arrive at Imphal on Tuesday.
All the BJP MLAs are likely to come back in the next couple of days.
