UKHRUL, Dec 15: The Kuki Human Rights Council (KHRC) has strongly condemned and rejected the recent meeting of four Kuki BJP MLAs – Nemcha Kipgen, Lelzamang Haokip, LM Khaute, and Ngursanglur Hmar – with Meitei BJP MLAs in Delhi. This meeting, amid speculation of government formation in Manipur, is not endorsed or acknowledged by the Kuki people, KHRC said in a statement.
Maintaining that the Kuki people will never participate in the formation of a popular government in Manipur, KHRC stated that their demand for separate administration is not driven by these MLAs rather a people’s demand, by the people, and for the people.
“The Kuki struggle is for self-determination, not for power-sharing in a state that’s failed to protect us,” KHRC stated.
The KHRC alleged that the four Kuki BJP MLAs have betrayed the trust of the Kuki people.
“Their participation in the Delhi meet undermines the Kuki demand for justice, peace, and separate administration,” KHRC stated, while demanding the MLAs to clarify their stance amid the ongoing Kuki crisis.
“The war is not over, the Kuki people stand united in rejecting any attempt to dilute our demand for separate administration. We won’t be part of Manipur’s government formation,” KHRC said while urging the Kuki people to stay vigilant and united.
KHRC also reiterated its demand that all 10 Kuki MLAs must resign from the Manipur Assembly.
“We now demand again – Resign immediately, before it’s too late. KHRC holds these Kuki BJP MLAs accountable for their actions. We demand they align with the people’s aspirations, not power politics. The struggle for Kuki rights continues,” KHRC stated. Ukhrul Times
