One-day training programme on 'Convention on Women Representatives' held at Jiribam

JIRIBAM, Dec 16 (DIO): A one-day training programme on "Convention on Women Representatives" was organized by the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) in coordination with the District Administration, Jiribam, at the Conference Hall of DC Office, Chingdong Leikai, Jiribam, on Tuesday.
The event aimed to encourage women empowerment activities and equip participants with the skills to disseminate awareness at the community and block levels.
The event was graced by Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Krishna Kumar, as the chief guest, along with other key officials.
In his address, Krishna Kumar emphasized the significance of women's empowerment and the crucial role that women representatives play in promoting community development. He encouraged the participants to utilize the training to enhance their skills and knowledge, enabling them to become effective leaders and change-makers in their communities.
The DC highlighted the role and responsibilities to be taken by women in their families, societies, and blocks, including monitoring the implementation of government schemes and ensuring that beneficiaries receive the intended benefits, disseminating information about schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandan Yojana, Pension Scheme, and other programs under the Social Welfare and Health Departments, promoting routine immunization of children and enrollment of Ante Natal cases at the District Hospital to avail benefits under suitable schemes.
Krishna Kumar urged the trainees to disseminate the information gathered from the training to their villages and blocks. He emphasized that the training is being imparted to tap the leadership qualities of women and enable them to play a more effective role in their societies and families.
The training programme was attended by 30 nominated women representatives from Borobekra CD Block, comprising members from RD & PR, Line Departments, NGOs, CBOs, SHGs, and community women leaders.
The event was attended by senior officials including SDO Jiribam L Tarajeet Singh; SDC Jiribam S Sitaranjit Singh; SDC BO Jiribam RK Gyandeep Singh; Faculty-in-charge DPRC Jiribam S Basan Singh and Training Instructor, DPRC, Borobekra Hassan Chowdhury.
