JIRIBAM, Dec 16: In one of the biggest cases of drug haul, a whopping 12,80,000 pieces of WY tablets worth Rs 320 crore were seized from three trucks heading towards Assam today.
The trucks carrying WY tablets were intercepted by a police team led by the Officer-in-Charge of Jiribam police station at around 11.30 am at Leingangpokpi.
Apart from seizing the huge quantity of drugs, all the three drivers of the trucks with Assam registration numbers have been arrested along with one second driver.
The arrested drivers have been identified as Santosh Patel (43) s/o Kalu Patel from Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh, Hanif Ali (28) s/o Shamjat Ali from Bongaigaon district, Assam, Faruk Ali (35) s/o Sabur Ali from Barpeta district, Assam and Mofij Uddin (29) s/o Ajim Uddin from Kamrup district, Assam.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered at Jiribam police station under ND&PS Act in connection with the huge drug seizure.
