Two vehicles seized

THOUBAL, Dec 16: A joint team of the Tengnoupal Forest Division, Thoubal Forest Division and Heirok Police Station have seized two vehicles for illegally transporting stone boulders in violation of forest laws.
According to official sources, the action was taken following reliable information and the filing of an earlier offence report. The joint team intercepted the vehicles at around 12.30 pm in the Wabaching area while they were travelling from Wabaching towards Heirok after loading stone boulders.
On inspection, the vehicles were found carrying a total of 20 cubic metres of stone boulders without valid permits.
Officials stated that the transportation of the forest produce was in clear violation of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 (as amended), the Indian Forest (Manipur Amendment) 2018 and the Manipur Forest Rules, 2021.
Citing the seizure, Divisional Forest Officer Mahamuda Begum informed that the vehicles along with the seized materials will be processed under the relevant Acts and Rules by the Office of the Authorized Officer, Tengnoupal Forest Division.
