IMPHAL, Dec 17 : The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) staged a protest in front of the Manipur Legislative Assembly today, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as the Delhi Court dismissed the complaints filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
The protesters led by former Chief Minister O Ibobi and MPCC president K Meghachandra held placards with slogans such as "Truth Prevails in National Herald Case," "Prime Minister Must Resign," "Home Minister Must Resign," and "Down Down BJP," among others.
Speaking to the media, CLP leader Ibobi said that the Delhi Court had dismissed the charges filed by the ED against former UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.
The Court has ruled that the charges filed by the ED were not maintainable and amounted to harassment, he said accusing the BJP of making unfounded allegations against the Congress leaders. Claiming that the BJP has been misusing Central agencies to serve its own interests, he added that the truth, however, cannot be concealed forever.
People will give a fitting lesson to the BJP for misusing power one day, he said.
