Don't pass through Kpi : CoTU to Malem Thongam

KANGPOKPI, Dec 17 : The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) has issued a warning to authorities, urging them to immediately suspend the proposed cycling event scheduled to pass through Kangpokpi district on December 19, 2025.
The event, spearheaded by Malem Thongam Meetei under the banner "Manipur Peace Route," is feared to stir tension in the already sensitive region, said CoTU in a statement.
COTU raised concerns about the timing and route of the event since it coincides with the Christmas season.
The committee underscored that the community is in no position to welcome any activity that could escalate communal sensitivities or disturb public harmony.
If any problems arise from the cycling event, the responsibility will fall on the concerned authorities, CoTU said and urged the administration and security forces to take necessary action to avert any situation that could further strain communal relations in the district.
