Students interact with Eastern Army Commander

IMPHAL, Dec 19: The National Integration Tour for students from Manipur reached a significant milestone in Kolkata as participants deepened their understanding of India’s educational, cultural and military heritage.
As per a release issued by the IGAR (South), a primary highlight of the visit occurred on December 18, when the contingent visited Vijay Smarak, the Headquarters of the Eastern Command. During this visit, the students were privileged to interact with Lieutenant General R C Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in- Chief, Eastern Command.
The Army Commander shared profound insights centered on the pillars of leadership, discipline and military values. By discussing the intricacies of national security and the vital importance of service to the country, he instilled a deep sense of responsibility and national pride in the young participants.
Beyond the military interaction, the tour provided the students with a comprehensive look at the historical and modern facets of the City of Joy. The group enjoyed a scenic ferry ride across the Hooghly River, which offered them unique perspectives on riverfront development and the importance of sustainable urban planning.
The itinerary also included a visit to Acropolis Mall, providing many students with their first exposure to a major modern shopping complex and an understanding of the evolving urban service sector.
The day concluded with a visit to the historic Mohun Bagan Stadium, where the students were introduced to India’s storied football legacy and the spirit of sporting excellence.
