THOUBAL, Dec 18 : A private oil pump operating illegally at Andro Keithel in Imphal East has been sealed by the authorities.
The action was part of a joint drive conducted by the CAF&PD, Imphal East district administration, and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
Haobam Bobby, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of the CAF&PD told the media that the drive began yesterday following directives from the Governor.
He said the sealed oil pump, which has a storage capacity of 1,000 litre of petrol and 1,500 litre of diesel, was being run by Sarungbam Nabachandra.
Bobby added that the authorities have notified the proprietor to furnish key documents such as No Objection Certificate (NOC), safety certificate, and rent certificate.
The oil pump can resume operations if the proprietor submits the necessary documentation within three days, Bobby said and urged the public to be cautious and avoid dealing with unauthorized oil pumps.
A press release issued by the CAF&PD, on the other hand, revealed that one Sharungbam Agro Enterprise was found to be operating without the required permits. The enterprise had been dispensing diesel and petrol through mobile units and door-to-door sales without obtaining necessary documents or authorization, it said.
The Government has sealed the establishment and given the owner a three-day deadline to provide the necessary documents such as land documents, a No Objection Certificate, a license from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO), an authorization letter from an Oil Marketing Company (OMC), and a valid trade license, it added.
