IMPHAL, Dec 2: The All Manipur Excise Employees’ Welfare Association (AMEEWA) has announced that they will launch an indefinite cease work strike from December 10.
This decision was compelled by the complete inaction of the State Government and relevant authorities regarding the long-pending pay anomalies and service disparities, despite a formal deadline issued earlier, said a press release issued by AMEEWA.
On September 25, 2025, the association issued a press release highlighting the grave pay anomalies, and placed a set of legitimate demands before the State Government with a clear deadline of October 31, 2025.
However, no concrete action or official communication has been received from the Government addressing these issues.
The complete lack of response demonstrates continued indifference toward the legitimate grievances of Excise personnel who perform high-risk enforcement duties under challenging conditions, it said.
AMEEWA also reiterated its core demands for approval of upgraded pay scales for all Excise Department posts with notional effect from January 1, 2016 and cash payment from July 1, 2024; extension of ration money and 13 months’ pay at par with Police Department personnel and official provision of necessary logistical support including communication equipment and vehicles.
This step (of indefinite cease work strike) has been taken as a last resort after exhausting all democratic and administrative avenues, it said.
The association holds the  State Government solely responsible for any disruption in Excise administration, revenue collection and enforcement activities on account of the cease work strike, it added.
