While the 10 cent stamp issued during 1971 Christmas was meant for international mail, the 7C stamp was for mail to USA and the 6 C was for domestic mail; the three stamps have different background colours.
This stamp design is considered as one of the most minimalist and yet modern X’mas stamps of Canada Post.
The 9th stamp is a 1998 Switzerland (Helvetia) 90 centimes Christmas stamp of a close-up image of a gift packet wrapped in green paper with a bright red ribbon & bow.
It is a simple design that conveys an essential part of the X’mas festivity.
The 10th stamp is from USA, issued in 1969 as a Christmas Special postage stamp; it is a reproduction of the painting “Winter Sunday in Norway” by artist Waldo Peirce. The 6 Cent commemorative stamp brings forth the beauty of the snowy landscape of a Norway village on a Sunday with its church and a horse-drawn carriage.
At last! The 11th stamp is from India Post issued in 1999 to mark “2000 years of Christ” -Yesu Krist Jayanti 2000.
Its face value is 3 Rupees. At the first glance anyone could mistake it for a Hindu/Buddhist stamp with the ‘chin mudra’ like depiction.
Only a closer look reveals that it is the right palm of Christ with blood mark, indicating he was nailed to the cross.
The last of the dozen, the 12th stamp, is a 90 C stamp, again from Canada. It is a Christmas/Noel issue of 1997. Issued under the series “Stained Glass Windows” Christmas stamps, it shows Mary & Infant Christ, an eternal symbol of love & hope and also peace & happiness, from a stained glass window panel.
Merry Christmas!
