State Level Weightlifting C’ship N Tomchou clinches senior men’s 60 kg category title

IMPHAL, Dec 20 : N Tomchou of NCOE grabbed the senior men’s 60 kg category gold in the State Level Weightlifting Championships 2025-26 being underway at SAI, NCOE, Takyelpat.
N Tomchou emerged on top of the competition as he recorded a 252 kg lift, 112 in snatch and 140 in clean and jerk.  Compatriot L Bunny posted a 100 kg lift in snatch and 115 kg in clean and jerk to finish second and settle for the silver medal while L Taibanganba of TBLWA recorded 66 kg in snatch and 84 kg in clean and jerk to settle for the bronze medal.
L Bunny was however adjudged winner in the junior category with 215 kg finish as K Ratan of SAI-Utlou bagged the silver with a total lift of 187 kg and L Taibangangba of TBLWA settled for the bronze.
 L Andy of NSA on the other hand sealed the youth men’s 56 kg category title by recording 75 kg lift in snatch and 91 kg lift in clean and jerk to amass 166 kg.
S Ronaldo of KYPC was two kg behind Andy as he registered 72 kg in snatch and 92 kg in clean and jerk to bag the silver medal as S Tyson of SAI-U managed 70 kg in snatch and 94 kg in clean and jerk to win the bronze.
In the youth men’s 60 kg category competition, K Ratan of SAI-U grabbed the gold medal as he completed 87 kg lift in snatch and 100 kg lift in clean and jerk.
A Krishnananda of SYA meanwhile earned the silver medal posting a total lift of 158 kg (70 in snatch and 88 in clean and jerk) while Lakshman of KYUC sealed the bronze by recording 65 kg lift in snatch and 85 kg lift in clean and jerk.
In the senior women’s 48 kg category competition, Th Sanju of SAI-NCOE sealed the top honour by securing an 80 kg lift in snatch and 96 kg lift in clean and jerk as KISCE’s K Nomita Chanu (70 kg in snatch and 95 kg in clean and jerk) and Kh Luwangsana (56 kg in snatch and 79 kg in clean and jerk) secured the silver and bronze medal respectively.
Kh Luwangsana was also adjudged winner in the junior category in the same weight event.
The youth women’s 44 kg category title meanwhile went to Kh Safiya of NSA, who registered a 41 kg lift in snatch and 54 kg lift in clean and jerk to amass 95 kg.
Th Linthoi Chanu of NSK on the other hand completed 39 kg lift in snatch and 50 kg lift in clean and jerk to win the silver and Kh Kalpana of TBLWA secured the bronze medal by recording 23 kg lift in snatch and 28 kg lift in clean and jerk.
The day also saw T Nishita Devi of AYDC laying her hand in the youth women’s 48 kg category title as she managed a total lift of 113 kg (50 in snatch and 63 in clean and jerk). A Bidyalaxmi of THAU sealed the silver medal of this weight category as she amassed 107 kg (47 in snatch and 57 in clean and jerk) while M Alina of TBLWA settled for the bronze with a total lift of 92 kg (40 in snatch and 52 in clean and jerk).
