IMPHAL, Dec 20 : Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan has called for peace in Manipur, emphasising that all communities in the State will endure hardship if the ongoing crisis remains unresolved.
He made this statement after inaugurating a cemented cricket pitch at Kangjabi Lampak today.
Speaking at the function, Joykisan continued that only those who exploit the situation will benefit if the turmoil persists.
There must be a solution for every conflict, he said, reiterating that the people will continue to suffer as long as the crisis remains unresolved.
Appealing to everyone to unite to restore normalcy in Manipur, the MLA questioned what benefit the people would get by letting the State remain in a tense atmosphere.
It is inevitable for the pace of development and the economy to slow down in areas affected by conflict, he said and added that there, however, are forces that exploit the crisis for their own personal and political gain.
Joykisan went on to say that no form of communal violence benefits any society.
Stating that 'we must' work together to identify those who are scheming to create communal disharmony in Manipur, the MLA emphasised that humanism is essential to building peace in the State.
"Let’s stop fighting and start forgiving each other," he said, urging all communities to unite and work together to prevent any future communal crises in Manipur.
The programme was organised by Royal Eleven Youngster Cricket Club.
