Foundation day observed

IMPHAL, Dec 21: Leaders of political parties, BJP, Congress and NPP who can't function without consulting their Central leaderships can't save Manipur, said social worker Laitonjam Jayanand today.
He said this during the 46th foundation day celebration of the Phaknung Awang Leikai Youth Development Association.
L Jayanand is former general secretary of NPP and former president of the party's State Youth Front.
He contested the last elections on an NPP ticket from Khurai Assembly Constituency.
Speaking at the event, Jayanand said Manipur needs leaders who have the interest of the people in the minds and hearts.
The people of the State must choose their leaders wisely in the coming elections. Leaders of political parties like the BJP, Congress and NPP who can't function without consulting their Central leaderships first can't save Manipur, he asserted.
The present MLAs of the 'ruling party' are unable to form a popular Government for they have surrendered their rights to their leaders in Delhi, he asserted.
In the next Assembly elections, people must choose the right political parties, and give their mandate to leaders who have genuine interests of the public and the State, he said.
Floral tributes were paid to late members of the association at the event.
