Military retakes Singu from PDF in Mandalay region

Tatmadaw have recaptured the areas around Singu town and Letpanhla village, which were temporarily controlled by PDFs, according to sources.
The PDF have been attacking the areas around Mogok, Momeik, Thabeikkyin, Madaya, and Singu since 2024, waging battles in towns and villages, attacking small military bases with weak security forces, taking public property, burning down State-owned factories and workshops, and forcibly extracting and using State-owned land and underground resources for personal use, forcing the locals in the areas to flee.
The Tatmadaw have been working to restore peace and stability in these areas, to enable the displaced people to return to their homes, and to re-open factories and recover surface and underground resources that support the country's economic development by conducting counter-terrorism operations (CTO), and the necessary preparations were made to re-establish control over the areas temporarily controlled by PDFs in Mandalay Region and its surrounding areas on July 23, 2025, the Phayongtaung mining area in Madaya Township on August 24, the area around the Alpha Cement Factory on August 28, and Saedawgyi village and reservoir on November 7.
With the military information provided by the local people, the areas temporarily controlled by PDFs were re-occupied one by one.
The military was able to retake control of the areas temporarily controlled by the PDF coalition forces, one by one. The military provided the necessary administrative support to retake control of the PDF-occupied areas of Singu, which was made PDF headquarters and Letpanhla village.
Combining ground and air support to identify information on the ground, the military re-took  Singu.They blocked Singu and Letpanhla village with two military columns via Thabeikkyin-Wa Phyu Taung to Zarat Kwin.
On December 18, Zarat Kwin was brought under the military's control, and the areas around Lake Kya, Chaung Gyi and Nwe Yone were also blocked and controlled.
Then, the military forces attacked the Yadanar Theingi-Na Kha-Pyin Chaung-La Min Tha route, the Pan Tin-Mya Kan Tha route, the Madaya-Singu road, the Traw Pin-Nyaung Wun-Thayar Kone route, the eastern bank of the Ayeyawady River, Kyauk Nga Nwar-Ye Taw-Shwe Hlay routes, and retook the area around Letpanhla village, which was temporarily under the control of the PDFs, on December 18, and the entire town of Singu on December 19.
The military forces fought 50 major and minor battles with the PDF coalition forces to retake Singu and the surrounding areas, and seized 22 bodies, 47 weapons, and related equipment used in terrorist activities from the enemy.
According to a press release, some officers and soldiers sacrificed their lives for the country.
During the temporary control of the area, the PDFs, supported by CRPH and NUG, set up bunkers in religious buildings, schools, departmental buildings, hospitals, and homes in the towns and villages, used people's homes as defensive walls, destroyed roads and bridges, including the Ayeyarwady Bridge (Yadana Theinga), Kyauksarid Kone Bridge, and Zayet Kwin Bridge, which are the main means of transportation for the people, and burned down factories, workshops, and departmental buildings that support the country's development, the press release stated.
In addition, the opening and closing mechanism of the Saedawgyi Dam’s overflow gate, the dam frame, and the sluice gate were detonated with mines, which the Tatmadaw was able to prevent and control in time.
The Tatmadaw is increasing security operations in the area to ensure the safe return of temporarily displaced people in Singu town and Letpanhla village and to ensure the rapid resumption of Government administration.  elevenmyanmar
