IMPHAL, Dec 21 : Manipur culminated the U-19 Women’s One Day Trophy Plate Group league campaign with a 215-run thrashing of Sikkim to finish third behind Mizoram and Tripura.
Asked to bat first at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Jamtha in Nagpur, Manipur rode on half century knocks from Sapam Kebriya (66 off 105; 4 fours) and Moirangthem Creety (54 off 74; 7 fours) and 42 extras to pile up a competitive total of 268 runs for 5 wickets.
Manipur then bundled out Sikkim for just 53 runs as State bowlers ran riot to destabilise the chase and sealed the huge win. Tongbram Bandana (1/9 in 6 overs), Nonibala (1/11 in 10 overs), Priyanshee (1/5 in 5 overs), K Sayatombi (2/15 in 5 overs) shared 6 crucial wickets while all maintaining a very good economy before Barkatun swept the last three tailenders in 2.4 overs without conceding any run and returned with the best figures of 3/0.
L Prena also batted sensibly for Manipur before she was dispatched for 42 runs off 49 (6 fours) as Ningthoujam Taniya 21 off 39, Barkatun 20 off 14, Inao 11 not out off 12 and Nonibala 12 not out off 13 too posted double digit scores in the first innings.
For Sikkim, Rachal (2/51), Sapna (2/35), and Jasmin (1/29) shared the five wickets before Chebong 22 off 71 and Snika 12 off 52 emerged the only double digit run getters in reply.
Notably, Manipur had secured back to back wins against  Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya before going down to Mizoram and Tripura in the following matches.
Despite the third place finish, Manipur’s S Kebriya and L Prena found their names among the top five (3rd and 5th) scorers respectively with 175 (1 half century) and 142 (1 half century) runs in their names while Tongbram Bandana (10 wickets) and Barkatun (9 wickets) also emerged third and fifth  players with most wickets.
