MPSC, PTCC off to winning start in 5th MNCA Superplate Trophy

IMPHAL, Dec 21 : MPSC, PTCC got off to winning starts as the 5th MNCA Superplate Trophy kicked off today at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground and Model Hr Secondary School and Oriental College playground.
As many as 15 teams clubbed into two groups will vie for the top honour of the tournament (35 overs an innings) that will see promotion of the finallist teams to the Elite division next season.
At Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, PTCC beat KSDO, Kyamgei by 41 runs to open their Group A campaign on a bright note.
PTCC posted a total of 191/8 after electing to bat first thanks to leading knocks from Paonam Champion 34, Hijam Abit 31, M Dominic 29 and A Rohit 28 before Dominic (3/15), M Gemson (2/26), and Loukrakpam Anao (2/24) led in bowling out KSDO for 150 runs in 31.4 overs.
For KSDO, Abd Al Aziz (2/38) picked two wickets and three others managed a wicket apiece in the first innings before Kh Washim Aktar 29 and Md Aslam 24 emerged as the leading run getters in reply.
Meanwhile, MPSC beat NCA, Ningthoukhong by 55 runs at Model Hr Secondary School and Oriental College playground to open their Group B campaign in style.
Leading knocks from Thoudam Gelson 84 off 82 (14 fours), Sarangthem Shangkar 57 off 47 (5 fours and 2 sixes), and Soubam Kingson 49 off 31 (5 fours and 3 sixes) helped toss winners MPSC to amass 278 runs for 7 wickets before Habibullah Ahammed (3/51) led in restricting NCA to 223/6 in reply despite Yumnam Bobby’s unbeaten 76 off 85 balls (7 fours and 1 six).
K Roshan (3/33) and Md Aslam (2/40) earlier led the NCA bowling attack and shared 5 wickets as two others claimed a wicket apiece.
