IMPHAL, Dec 21 : PSC, Khuyathong assured themselves of a place in the semi-finals of the 10th MNCA Plate Tournament as they beat SSU, Singjamei by 2 wickets for the sixth win and consolidated their position of top of Group B table.
PSC bowled out toss winners SSU for 101 runs within 26.3 overs today riding on a concerted bowling effort and fought their way to the target in 32.3 overs with 2 wickets left to spare.
Sapam Bindeshwor 33 off 42 topscored for SSU in the first innings that saw Huirongbam Biteshwor (3/18), Tongbram Sagar (2/14), Okram Netrajit (2/9) sharing 7 crucial wickets for PSC.
In reply, Laimayum Prasantajit 22 off 55, Soubam Gautam 22 off 53 provided early hope before H Biteshwor scored an unbeaten 21 off 22 to steer the team to the target despite stiff resistance from Bollanath of SSU who returned with a fifer (5/24).
Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, YWC-Patsoi (P) beat YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai by 31 runs for the third straight win after two opening game losses.
Toss winners YWC-P were bundled out for a total of 169 runs for all wickets down in 30.5 overs but successfully defended their total by bowling out YUCC for 138 runs in 28.5 overs riding on M Thoungamba (3/17), Laikhuram Jagat (3/17), and Kh Henry (2/24).
Lamyanba 38 not out off 51, Bir Raj Nga 32 off 28, and L Jagat 24 off 37 led the scoring for YWC-P in the first innings that saw Shougrakpam Santosh (4/32), Moirangthem Kadamjit (2/36), and Shyam (2/26) of YUCC sharing 8 wickets.
In reply, M Amitkiyon 36 off 52 and N Reshan 22 not out off 39 led the scoring for YUCC in a lost cause.
