NSA emerge both men and women’s team champions; Tomchou, Sanju win best lifter titles

IMPHAL, Dec 22 : National Sports Academy (NSA) emerged champions in both the men and women’s sections in the 24th Youth, 25th Junior and 26th Senior State Level Weightlifting championships conducted by the Manipur Weightlifting Association at SAI, NCOE, Takyelpat, Imphal.
NSA men’s team collected 213 points to earn the top honour as KYPC, Kakyai Makha Leikai finished runners up on 154 points. NSA women’s team on the other hand amassed 219 points to secure the championship title and were followed by NSK, Wangkhei as runners up on 213 points.
NCOE’s N Tomchou and Th Sanju meanwhile walked away with the best lifter titles in the championships that concluded today.
Notably, Tomchou had won the senior men’s 60 kg category title while Th Sanju bagged the senior women’s 48 kg category crown.
The final day of the championships saw Irom Irom of AYDC securing both the youth and junior men’s 88 kg category titles by recording a total lift of 213 kg, 95 in snatch and 118 in clean and jerk.
Salam Nganba of THAU, with a total lift of 204 kg and P Johncina of YUC, with a total lift of 153 kg claimed the silver and the bronze medals in the youth category as Y Irabanta of KYSCSL (157 kg total) and Ishwarchandra of KYPC (140 kg total) settled for the silver and bronze medals in the junior category.
Y Abinash of THAU meanwhile sealed the senior men’s 94 kg category gold medal posting 218 total lift (93 in snatch and 125 in clean and jerk) as Th Raj of YPC (186 kg total) and K Nilbir of KYUC (150 kg total) settle for the silver and the bronze medals.
N Yohenba of NSA meanwhile claimed both the 79 kg category titles in both the youth and junior groups by recording the best lift of 225 kg (100 in snatch and 125 in clean and jerk).
Y Mangal of TBLWA (90 kg total) and Th Korounganba of NGKSC (87 kg total) meanwhile finished second and third in the youth competition as Y Mangal also sealed the silver in the junior competition.
Huidrom Adison of KYPC on the other hand won the senior men’s 79 kg category title as Yohenba finished second in the group.
K Bishonath of THAU meanwhile lifted the senior men’s 94+ kg category gold by securing 104 kg lift in snatch and 122 kg lift in clean and jerk for a total lift of 226 kg as O Momocha of SYA amassed 142 kg for the silver medal.
H Bikash of NCOE meanwhile earned the junior men’s 110+ kg category title with a total lift of 260 kg (120 in snatch and 140 in clean and jerk).
KYSCSL’s N Victoria on the other hand sealed the youth women’s 69 kg category gold by amassing 155 kg (68 in snatch and 87 in clean and jerk) as S Utarani of KYPC (149 kg total) and H Priyani of KYSCSL (146 kg total) bagged the silver and bronze medals respectively.
O Monalisa of NSA meanwhile claimed the junior women’s 86 kg category gold by amassing 165 kg, 73 off snatch and 92 off clean and jerk while O Dhaneshwori of YPC settled for the bronze with a total effort of 113 kg.
Ch Nirmala on the other hand claimed the senior women’s 86 kg category competition gold by producing a total effort of 193 kg (84 in snatch and 109 in clean and jerk) as M Rima of KYPC gathered 190 kg and W Nivedita of KLYDC gathered 170 kg to settle for the silver and the bronze medals.
H Olympia of NSA (166 kg), H Olivia of KYPC (137 kg), and L Zelina of KYPC (129 kg) in the meantime emerged the podium finishers in the youth women’s 77 kg category competition as Olympia and Zelina secured the top two positions in the junior group.
N Monalisa of NSA (73 kg in snatch and 92 kg in clean and jerk) and T Jessica of KYSCSL (35 kg in snatch and 43 kg in clean and jerk) meanwhile sealed the top two places in youth women’s 77+ kg category competition.
YPC’s Kh Elizah (172 kg), A Premika of SYA (150 kg), and H Priyarani (146 kg) meanwhile sealed the gold, silver and bronze medals in the junior women’s 69 kg category competition as K Roshilata of NCOE (183 kg), A Premika of SYA, and S Utarani of KYPC (149 kg) made podium finishes in the senior segment.
