IMPHAL, Dec 22 : RULE, Meitram and WYC, Thoubal Wangkhem emerged victorious in today’s matches of the ongoing 5th MNCA Superplate Trophy 2025-26.
At Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, RULE sealed a 3-wicket win over CDCC, Sagolband Salam Leikai in a Group A match courtesy of Jay Singh’s brilliance with the bat and the ball.
RULE chose to field first and bundled out CDCC for 154 runs in 27.3 overs through a concerted bowling effort and chased down the target in 25.5 overs with three wickets left to spare riding on Jay Singh’s unbeaten 69 off 67 balls studded with 9 fours despite Mairembam Lucky applying pressure by claiming four wickets (4/30) for CDCC.
Narengbam Priyojit topscored for CDCC earlier in the first innings by adding a brisk 57 off 35 balls on the back of 9 boundaries (5 fours and 4 sixes) while Mairembam Lucky added second highest 38 off 47 balls (4 fours and 1 six).
Sanjenbam Ananda (2/12 in 6 overs), Nongthombam Sarojkumar (2/26 in 6 overs), and Pukhrambam Ajay (2/24 in 3 overs) shared 6 wickets for RULE in the innings as Nepram Richer, Angomcha Rojit and Jay Singh picked a wicket apiece.
Naoshekpam Manglemba 22 off 30 and Sanjenbam Suresh 18 off 21 also played sensibly for RULE in the chase as Ksh Robert (1/24), Fm Sharif (1/29) and Thoudam Monet (1/42) too picked a wicket apiece for CDCC.
Jay Singh was eventually adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Model Hr Sec School and Oriental College playground, WYC, Thoubal Wangkhem pulled off a 25-run win over Blue Hawk, Khurai for their first Group B win.
WYC were dismissed for a paltry total of 121 runs in 28.4 overs after electing to bat first by their bowlers overhauled Blue Hawk’s performance to dismantle the latter team for 96 runs in 24 overs.
N Jackiechand (3/12), Dolaipaibam Saheer (2/32), Amom Guniram (2/29), and Donny (2/16) were among the wickets for Blue Hawk in the first innings that saw Moirangthem Prameshor 26 off 41, Gotimayum Mangi Sharma 19 off 15 and Thokchom Priyananda 15 off 27 led the scoring for WYC.
Wangkhem Lakshmon (4/20 in 6 overs), Nongmaithem Ruhit (3/20 in 7 overs) and Laishram Rajesh (2/25 in 5 overs) however produced a devastating bowling attack to put chasing Blue Hawk to sword at 96 within 24 overs.
Only Nandakishor 27 and A Guniram 15 managed double digit scores in the chase for Blue Hawk.
Wangkhem Lakshmon who starred with a four wicket haul for WYC was adjudged player of the match.
