Winter Tennis Tournament Shelza in both U-14 and U-16 girls’ singles finals

IMPHAL, Dec 22 : Shelza is looking forward to ending the year on a high as she made it to both the finals of the U-14 and U-16 girls singles competition of the Winter Tennis Tournament hosted by ITDA and ASTPM at IDTA Complex, Lamphel.
Shelza eased past Valeska 6-1, 6-2 to set up the U-14 girls singles final date with Merliah, who outlasted Mehreen 6-0, 6-2 in another semi-final clash. Shelza on the other hand secured a 6-1, 6-1 semi-final win over Victoria to seal her place in the U-16 girls’ singles final.
Joel in U-12 boys singles final
Joel meanwhile earned his place in the U-12 boys singles final as she overcame Unnat 6-3, 6-1 in a semi-final clash today.
Joel had earlier won 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 against Suhaan to enter the semi-final as Austin beat Dhruv 6-4, 6-2 to enter semi-finals.
Chingkhei, Dhanaraj in U-14 boys singles semis
The day also saw Chingkhei and Dhanraj securing semi-final round berths with quarterfinal victories.
In a quarterfinal clash, Chingkhei, who got a first round bye prevailed 6-4, 6-4 over Arnov in the quarterfinal to enter the semi-finals.
Dhanaraj meanwhile beat Giniketan 6-0, 6-1 in the first round before beating Singambam 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 in the quarterfinals.
In the other first round matches, Dhruv won 61-, 6-4 over Umang as Singamba beat Austin 6-3, 6-3, and Joel beat Suhan 1-4, 6-4, 10-6.
Stage set for U-16 boys singles semi-finals
The semi-final line up for the U-16 boys singles competition was also completed today with Yohenba earning a bye and Soham, Ranchar, and Yoimayai registering first round wins.
Soham eased to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Dhanraj to set up the semi-final date with Yohenba as Ranchar pulled off a 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 win over Singamba to set up a semi-final date with Yoimayai who was handed a 1-6, 6-3 win after Lanchenba retired hurt.
