IMPHAL, Dec 22: With just nine days left for the Government to fulfil its promise of resettling displaced families, COCOMI and IDPs have urged the Government to put into action a district-wise and village-wise resettlement within the remaining days of the current month.
Today too, COCOMI and  joint representatives of IDPs submitted a reminder memorandum to the Governor and the Chief Secretary.
The reminder memorandum decried that no clear, time-bound and actionable roadmap has yet been communicated to the affected families despite repeated reminders and sincere cooperation from IDP representatives and civil society.
In addition to a district-wise and village resettle- ment schedule, the memorandum demanded imple- mentation of security guarantees and administrative preparedness to ensure safe and dignified return. It also demanded restoration of basic services including housing, electricity, water, healthcare and education at the resettlement sites and formal communication to IDP representatives and CSOs to avoid further anxiety and speculation.
The IDPs have shown extraordinary patience and restraint in the hope that the Government will honour its own assurance, it said. Any further delay beyond December 2025 will be viewed as a serious breach of commitment, compelling the affected families and the civil society to consider appropriate democratic and lawful means to seek accountability, it added.
