IMPHAL, Dec 22: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), Council Headquarters, has appealed to all civil society organisations (CSOs), groups, and all sections of society not to impose any bandh or create any form of disturbance from December 23, 2025 to January 5, 2026, in view of Christmas and New Year.
Most tribal people residing in Imphal are permanent residents from the far-flung and remote areas of the State. This period is highly significant and busy for tribal Christians, as they customarily return to their respective villages for preparations and observances related to Christmas and New Year celebrations, it said in a statement.
Christmas and New Year are the most precious and sacred occasions for Christians and are celebrated once a year. After working tirelessly throughout the year, this festive season provides an important opportunity for rest, joy, thanksgiving, family reunion, and spiritual renewal, it added.
It also appealed to the Governor to ensure effective maintenance of law and order, and prevent any unwanted incidents during the festive season in the larger public interest.
