FoM celebrates first foundation day

MOIRANG, Dec 23: The Friendship Organisation Moirang (FoM), formed by like minded individuals from across Moirang who passed matriculation  between 1979 and 1982 and are now engaged in various professions, observed its first foundation day on Mondays with a tree plantation drive aimed at promoting a green and clean Moirang.
As part of the foundation day observance, the organisation planted several tree saplings along the median of Moirang-Sendra Road. Later, the FoM flag was hoisted at Keipha Garden, followed by the annual general body meeting of the organisation.
During the meeting, retired SDPO of Manipur Police Department and FoM president Maibram Noren Singh; FoM secretary Hemam Deven Singh; and FoM member Dr Kumam Prafullo Singh attended as presidium members,
The annual report of the organisation and its proposed plans and activities for the coming year were also presented on the occasion.
Speaking at the programme, FoM secretary Hemam Deven said that the organisation was formed with a vision to transform Moirang into a greener and cleaner town, while also motivating the younger generation to become responsible and successful citizens.
He said that over the past year, FoM has undertaken several initiatives, including tree plantation, cleanliness drives, social service camps, as well as motivational and career counselling programmes for students.
He added that the tree plantation drive along the Sendra Road was organised to enhance the town's appeal to tourists and visitors.
Stating that the organisation would continue to take up similar initiatives in the future for a clean and developed Moirang, he appealed to the public to extend support and cooperation to FoM.
