Winter Tennis Tournament Joshua, Victoria win U-18 singles titles for boys and girls as Shelza secures U-14, U-16 girls singles crowns

IMPHAL, Dec 23 : It was a double delight for Shelza as she clinched the U-14 and U-16 girls’ singles crowns in the ongoing Winter Tennis Tournament as Joshua and Victoria sealed the U-18 boys and girls’ singles titles.
Shelza earned the U-16 girls title today by defeating Merliah 6-2, 6-2 in the title clash.
Shelza yet again faced Merliah in the U-14 singles title clash and emerged 6-1, 6-4 to walk away with two titles.
Joshua on the other hand sealed the U-18 boys’ singles title by securing three back to back wins in the competition held in Round Robin format.
Joshua defeated Yohenba 7-6 (7-5) to earn his first win and eased past Soham 6-2 for the second win before securing an identical win over Lanchenba.
Victoria on the other hand pulled off 5-3, 1-4, 10-8 win over Valeska; 4-2, 4-2 win over Linthoi; and 4-2, 4-1 win over Christie to earn the U-18 girls singles title.
Valeska meanwhile finished runner up with 4-1, 4-2 win over Linthoi and 4-2, 4-2 win over Christie.
U-16 Boys
Yohenba meanwhile sealed the U-16 boys’ singles title by easing 6-1, 6-1 past Ranchar.
Yohenba made it to the final with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-6 win over Soham while Ranchar got past Yoimayai 6-4, 6-2 in another semi-final match to complete the final line up.
U-14 Boys
The day also saw Yoimayai and Ranchar entering the U-14 boys’ singles final.
Yoimayai eased past Chingkhei 6-3, 6-1 in the semi-final while Ranchar outlasted Dhanraj 6-1, 7-5.
U-10 Boys
Aariz Jamil meanwhile claimed the U-10 boys singles title by defeating Leishemba 4-0, 4-2 and Moramba 4-2, 4-0 in the round robin league competition as Moramba won 4-2, 2-4, 14-12 against Leishemba to settle for the runner up title.
U-12 Boys
Arnov meanwhile emerged the U-12 boys’ singles champion by securing a 6-1, 6-1, 10-6 final victory against Joel.
Joel had reached the final with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Unnat while Arnov secured a 6-2, 3-0 (retd) win over Austin to set up the final date with Joel.
