IMPHAL, Dec 24 : Internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Serou have begun returning to their homes. According to reports received by The Sangai Express, more than 110 IDPs were escorted by security personnel upto Waikhong. However, once there, the security forces stated they could no longer provide further protection. On the other hand, the security personnel stationed at Waikhong insisted that the IDPs would not be allowed to proceed without security coverage. Frustrated by the actions of the security personnel, the IDPs staged a protest in the area. They were reportedly escorted up to Sugnu late in the evening. Later, the IDPs met with Sugnu AC MLA K. Ranjit at Sugnu Higher Secondary School. They reached Serou around 7.30 pm. Reports indicate that the Waikhong SDO and SDC were also involved in facilitating the IDPs' journey to Serou.
