IMPHAL, Dec 24 : With a message of peace and solidarity, the Indigenous Peoples Forum Manipur, Imphal Naga Forum and Joint Goodwill Mission have donated bags of sugar, pulses and other edible items to the inmates of Sawombung and Lamboi Khongnangkhong Relief Camp on Christmas eve.
The multi-ethnic delegation was led by Ashang Kasar, chief advisor, IPFM. Speaking at Lamboi Khongnangkhong Relief Camp, Ashang Kasar called for communal harmony and love to conquer the vested designs aimed at dismantling Manipuri society.
Sharing Christmas greetings, he stood in solidarity with the suffering of the displaced folks and urged them not to give up hope. Highlighting the spirit of oneness, he said the aid initiative was undertaken with the idea of taking part in each other's hardships during the holy season.
After the conflict is resolved, let us rebuild the unity found earlier in the State. May the festival of Christmas restore lost love, said Ashang Kasar. Several well known public figures were part of the relief team including SM Jalal, president, AMMOCOC; Michael Lamjathang Haokip, prominent Thadou leader and State BJP spokesperson and Diphiu Prinmai, political activist and youth leader.
