1,60,000 WY tablets seized at Jiri

IMPHAL, Dec 24: Close on the heels of the seizure of a whopping 12,80,000 pieces of WY tablets by Jiribam Police from a truck  at Leingangpokpi, Jiribam on December 16, 2025, a substantial quantity of the same contraband, narcotic substance was seized from another truck today.
The WY tablets were seized by Jiribam Police after intercepting a truck bearing Assam registration number near Chandrapur Mahadev Mandir at around 4.45 pm, sources said.
The driver of the truck has been identified as Ilaj Ali Laskar s/o Irfan Ali Laskar of Uttar Lalpani, Cachar, Assam.
On searching the truck, a white sack containing some items was found in the tool box.
Altogether 16 packets containing 50 sachets were found inside the sack with each sachet containing 200 lakh WY tablets, bringing the total 1.60 lakh WY tablets.
Subsequently, the contraband drug items were seized by observing necessary formalities and Ilaj Ali Laskar was arrested, said the sources.     Notably, 12,80,000 pieces of WY tablets worth Rs 320 crore were seized from a truck at Leingangpokpi, Jiribam on December 16, 2025. Like the truck intercepted on December 16, the truck from which WY tablets were seized today was also coming from the direction of Imphal.
