Christmas greetings pour in from all over

IMPHAL, Dec 24 : Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has led the State in extending Christmas greetings to the people of Manipur, especially the Christian community.
In a message, Governor Bhalla said that Christmas commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ and is regarded as one of the most sacred festivals in the Christian faith. He expressed hope that the festival will bring peace, hope and joy to the State.
Adding his wishes, Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata Singh called for Christmas bells to ring over the hills and the valley and inspire courage, compassion and deep brotherhood in each heart.
"Let our carols carry the names of those we've lost", he added.
Extending his Christmas greetings, Singjamei AC MLA Yumnam Khemchand urged people to forgive each other for all misdeeds and bring peace and love among all communities living in Manipur. Meanwhile, Mayang Imphal AC MLA K Robindro wished everyone a merry Christmas and urged people to welcome the New Year with renewed optimism and a shared vision.
Additionally, Thanga AC MLA T Robindro prayed for the well-being and prosperity of every family in the State with the hope that the season of festivity will strengthen the bonds of love and mutual respect among all communities.
Extending Christmas greetings on behalf of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, president K Meghachandra Singh urged people to renew their collective commitment to peace, brotherhood and social justice and stand together against hatred, division and injustice.
Conveying its Christmas wishes, Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) recalled 2025 as a year of profound challenges for the Thadou community including the tragic martyrdom of peace advocate Nekham Jomhao.
In the spirit of the "Prince of Peace" who came into a world of suffering to bring light into darkness, TIM has extended its hands for dialogue, forgiveness and healing.
"May Christ's light strengthen our resilience and guide Manipur towards lasting peace", it added.
In its Christmas message, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) appealed to people to open their hearts and hands to provide every possible support to the displaced people who continue to suffer in relief camps, deprived of home, security and normalcy.
COCOMI also stressed on the need for "true peace", which is not only the absence of violence, but the presence of justice, compassion and healing.
Emphasizing on the spirit of forgiveness, COCOMI called upon the Almighty to soften hardened hearts, awaken conscience and guide all towards repentance, truth and peace. "May He bless, heal and protect our beloved Manipur", it added.
Joining in, the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) extended its greetings and heartfelt wishes to all students, members, well-wishers, and the whole community at large on the joyous occasion of Christmas and New Year 2026.
It has further informed that the ANSAM office will remain closed from December 24 to January 8, with normal office functioning set to resume from January 9, 2026.
In their press release, Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs Manipur (FATYCM) appreciated the efforts of Manipur MLAs for their peace building initiatives and for working tirelessly at their respective levels.
Stating that such efforts are vital steps for restoring trust, understanding and unity, FATYCM appealed to all communities of Manipur to begin the journey toward peace from within by shedding hatred, embracing love and committing to harmony. Meanwhile, Momo Tatanga, president, Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) conveyed both Christmas and New Year wishes to the people.
MP Dr Bimol Akoijam and many other organisations have also extended heartfelt Christmas greetings, including, the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Janata Dal (United), Manipur State Unit, Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India and CSOs of Kangleipak (PANDM, IPSA, ACOAMLUP, IPAK, KSA, ERDO, Kanglamei, KIL, MIKAL, SWA, LOYALUP, CLK and AKSIL).
