CHAMP beat SU by 2 wickets in 22nd Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament

IMPHAL, Dec 26 : CHAMP, Khagempali defeated SU, Sagolband by 2 wickets in a Group D match to keep their quarterfinal hopes alive in the ongoing 22nd Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament at Langthabal Public Ground.
It was CHAMP’s second win in three matches and first loss for SU who posted two back to back opening game wins.
SU opted to bat first but were dismissed for 138 runs in 25.3 overs despite Prameshor 34 off 33, A Sanjoy 23 off 17 and Robindro 18 off 21 trying to hold things together.
CHAMP then fought their way to the target for 8 wickets in 28.5 overs thanks to notable contributions from Rocket 35 off 43, Thomas 33 off 44 and Ajit 27 not out off 36 balls.
Earlier in the first innings, Naesh 2/30, John 2/29, Tomthang 2/17, and Ajit 2/15 shared 8 wickets for CHAMP.
For SU, A Sanjoy 2/14 and Pakpa 2/16 shared four wickets as Pyarlal and Bedamohon picked a wicket apiece.
Ajit of CHAMP who added an unbeaten 27 after claiming two wickets, was adjudged man of the match.
Earlier yesterday, REYS extended their winning run to three games in the Group C competition by defeating KSDO, Kongpal by 5 wickets.
