VSAI crowned Masters’ Football champions

IMPHAL, Dec 26 : VSAI, Thangmeiband clinched the title of the 5th Dr Moirangthem Manaoton and M Chandrasakhi Devi Memorial Masters’ Football Championship hosted by Sunday FC at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
VSAI beat Sangai FC by 5-4 goals on penalties after a 1-1 regulation time draw to seal the title of the 12-team tournament.
With the title in sight, both VSAI and Sangai FC started cautiously and cancelled out one another to enter into the break goalless. VSAI however found the lead in the 44th minute through W Khogen but N Jiten converted a penalty in the stoppage time (60+1’) to extend the game to a penalty shoot-out.
VSAI however redeemed themselves after fumbling up in the closing minutes by securing the 5-4 win in the shoot-out. Kh Rajen, M Bimolchandra, Kh Bonomali, Th Bhubon and T Shyam were on the target for the team as only N Jiten, M Biken, L Meghachandra, and Golmei Pantilung found the target for Sangai FC.
