IMPHAL, Dec 26 : YAC, Yaiskul defeated YUCC by 96 runs for the 6th Group A win in the 10th MNCA Plate Tournament to go top of Group A temporarily and inch closer to the semi-finals.
YAC, after electing to bat first here at Lairenjam Public Ground, were bundled out for 177 runs in the allotted 35 overs before dismissing YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel Leikai for 81 runs within 25.5 overs to seal the huge win.
W Indrakumar 41 off 55, L Singhajit 29 off 19 and Th Nidhiraj 24 off 23 led the scoring for YAC in the first innings that saw S Amar picked 4 wickets (4/23) and L Somraj managed two wickets (2/26) for YUCC.
In reply, Shyam 24 not out off 54 was the highest run getter for YUCC as 8 batters ended up scoring single or no score at all as L Singhajit (3/17 in 5.5 overs), Oinam John (3/11 in 5 overs), and A Robinchandra (2/1 in 1 over) shared 7 crucial wickets for YAC.
Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, YWC, Patsoi (YWC-P) beat OSCAR, Paona Bazar by 3 wickets for the 4th Group A win in 6 matches to keep their semi-final hopes alive.
Electing to bat first, OSCAR posted a competitive total of 199 for all wickets down in 30 overs courtesy of late fightback from Jawan 32 off 25 and W Pawankumar 37 not out off 35.
YWC-P however rode on Kh Henery’s 79-ball 82 and contributions from Thokchom Milan 33 off 39 and L Johnson 36 off 22 to close in to the target before Leichombam Priyobarta 10 not out finished off the chase in the second delivery of the 29th over.
L Johnson 3/42, Kh Henery 2/34, and M Thoungamba 2/35 had earlier shared 7 wickets for YWC-P in the first innings as Jawan 3/33 and Indrajit 2/39 shared 5 wickets for the losing side.
